As do all trades programs, Alberta's Locksmith Apprenticeship Program depends on Industry Support. The Locksmith Program is fortunate to have such generous benefactors as those listed here.

Kaba-Ilco is one of our biggest supporters, with Simplex Unican locks and mounted, cut-away safe locks such as those at right, to name just 2 of the products they supply us.


Blackhawk Products graciously maintains a free lease for us on their Codes On Disk program, which we use quite heavily in many of our lab exercises. We also get great technical support from Roger Weitzenkamp. Check out their site.
 


 

Locksmith Ledger and The National Locksmith are the two foremost publications in the industry. Both support the program through complimentary subscriptions. 

 


Intralock Tools (ITL) is a trusted manufacturer of locksmithing solutions including key-cutting machines and an electronic safe combination finder. ITL has sponsored us through the provision of its fast and powerful ITL 9000 key-cutting machine.

Medeco Security Locks, Inc. donated the pneumatically-operated 00 key machine pictured at left.

The machine, along with key blanks, cylinders and locks also donated by Medeco, provides students with experience in originating keys, rekeying and master keying Medeco high security locks.



The Abloy key machine pictured at left is a small part of a donation from Abloy which totalled more than $14,000.00 net.
 
 
The RDC Locksmith Program is a registered Abloy dealer.


Sargent & Greenleaf, inc., has helped us with educational pricing on all their products. S&G is the foremost manufacturer of safe locks in North America.



Pro-Finish Hardware Consultants of Calgary, was instrumental in arranging donations of Ingersoll-Rand hardware: Schlage, LCN, Glynn-Johnston, and Von Duprin products. Pictured at left is a Von Duprin Chexit electronic PED with exit delay.

Today, IR Security & Safety takes care of our Ingersoll-Rand hardware needs.

 



The good folks at La Gard, Inc. have supplied our apprentices with a wide variety of La Gard products, including samples of their 3300 group 2 combination lock, the 1975 MP lock, Safe Gard electronic locks (pictured at left), and Combo Gard electronic locks.

 

 



A wide variety of IEI access control products were donated through the courtesy of Rutherford Controls.

 



The Mas-Hamilton X-07 is a self-powered electronic safe lock which is dialled in much the same manner as a conventional mechanical combination lock. 4th period Locksmith Apprenticeship students gain experience in installation of the X-07 as well as changing combinations, etc.

 


 

With the inception of the Locksmith Apprenticeship Program, the Professional Locksmiths Association of Alberta donated the vast majority of its educational resources and products. The PLAA continues to support the program in a variety of ways.
