Fabulous Fiction Tour stops in at RDC
Red Deer, January 25, 2011 – RDC Library invites you to join us for the Fabulous Fiction Tour’s Red Deer stop. Rosemary Nixon and Valerie Compton, who are on a tour of western Canada to connect with readers, will showcase their literary work on Wednesday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the North Nook of the RDC Library.
Rosemary Nixon | Kalila
Nixon will read from her book Kalila which she wrote on two continents over fifteen years. Described by the late Canadian writer Robert Kroetsch as a work of greatness, Kalila is a story that “lifts our mortal lives into lamentation and wisdom and rapture and love.” Currently the Writer-in-Residence at the University of Windsor, Nixon is the author of two previous short story collections, Mostly Country and The Cock’s Egg, winner of the Howard O’Hagan Short Fiction Award.
Valerie Compton | Tide Road
Compton will read from her book Tide Road. The novel examines themes of history, family and memory when a woman’s daughter disappears after a suspicious accident.
Born and raised in PEI, Valerie Compton now lives in Halifax, where she writes and teaches fiction writing. Her stories have appeared in The New Quarterly,The Malahat Review, The Antigonish Review, among many others, and her stories have been shortlisted for the CBC Literary Award and the Island Literary Award.

Books will be available for purchase and signing. Pre-registration is not required.
