Learn the art of Glassblowing with New Zealand Pro

Red Deer, July 15, 2011 – Have you always wanted to try glassblowing? Now’s your chance!

RDC is offering one-day workshops with Katie Brown of New Zealand on July 21 and 22.

She’ll show you the ropes in the hot shop and teach you a variety of techniques during the day.  The cost is $250 + GST for the full day instruction and supplies.
Katie Brown is one of only a small handful of full-time female glassblowing artists in New Zealand. After graduating from the Diploma in Glass Design and Production in 1999, Katie was invited to become part of the glass making team at Josh Simpson’s studio in Massachusetts. She then moved to England where she worked with environmental glass artist Neil Wilkin, gaining her invaluable tutelage. Katie returned to New Zealand and is the co-owner of Chronicle Glass Studio. Much of Katie’s work is inspired by the natural world which is reflected within her us of hot glass. Katie’s versatility produces a variety of pieces ranging from jewelry to goblets, bowls, platters, incalmo vessels and chandeliers.
