One to 1 Fitness given Red Deer Bottling Small Business Award

Red Deer, November 24, 2011 – One to 1 Fitness Inc. of Red Deer has been selected by RDC as the recipient of the 2011 Red Deer Bottling Small Business award. The $5000 tuition credit is awarded to one business that employs 25 employees or less.

“One to 1 Fitness is very deserving of the Red Deer Bottling Small Business Award,” says Joanne Packham, Dean of RDC’s Donald School of Business, located in downtown Red Deer. “Their business model is innovative, client based and service oriented.”

Available to small businesses in the central Alberta region, this award and the tuition credit  underscores RDC’s commitment to providing educational opportunities for local business and to serve the educational needs of our region in a variety of ways.

The award is granted based on a 500 word narrative submitted by applicants that describes how their business stands out in its pursuit of innovation, excellence and entrepreneurship.

“With hopes, dreams and every penny we could scrape together, we began our business with three personal trainers who combined for a little more than 100 service appointments per week,” says Cabel McElderry, Director of One to 1 Fitness. The local business, which first opened in May 2007, has grown to hire more than 10 employees and has dramatically increased its client base.

McElderry is excited about the opportunity the tuition credit will provide for his employees. “It will help us to continue to develop our team and will add value and success to our customers.”

The award will be applied to credit or non-credit courses or programs through the College’s Donald School of Business.  “The training can be customized,” says Packham, “or One to 1 Fitness can choose from one of the hundreds of existing courses already offered at RDC. Another great feature of this award is that the award recipient can receive the training they select onsite at their business, online, or in the College’s J.B. Quinn Centre for Corporate Training on main campus or at our downtown campus.”

The annual award is sponsored by Red Deer Bottling, and awarded by RDC. The award is granted to one business that employs 25 employees or less and has not previously received the award. The application opens in September of each year.
