RDC United Way Campaign Our Best Yet
Red Deer, November 30, 2011 – RDC’s 2011 United Way Campaign, which wrapped up this week, was a resounding success. This year we surpassed 2009’s record fundraising effort of $40,001 to raise a total of $42,000.
“The personal touch allowed the RDC campaign to be so successful,” says Brad Donaldson, VP Academic at RDC and this year’s RDC United Way Campaign chairperson. “Canvassers provided information that helped staff and faculty to understand the need and value of the United Way.”
Money raised from the campaign will be used to enable non-profit organizations in central Alberta to provide critical services focused on creating opportunity for children and families in need and for building strong communities.
On October 17, when the campaign was first launched, RDC set a fundraising goal of $30,500. This year’s record-breaking campaign also had the College’s highest ever participation rate. 20.5% of all fulltime faculty and staff contributed to the campaign. The fundraising success put RDC at the top of a friendly competition with Grande Prairie Regional College and Medicine Hat College.
“Our outstanding results show how generous and caring the staff and faculty are at RDC,” says Donaldson. Through donations, payroll deduction plans, and a few special events such as a silent auction and balloon raffle, RDC employees pulled together to support fellow central Albertans through the United Way.
