RDC launches new version of App for iPhone and Android
Red Deer, January 4, 2012 – RDC has launched a new App for smartphones that is now available for Apple and Android devices. The new App sports a fresh look and is more dynamic and user-friendly.
“The App has two key new features that we added after feedback from students,” says Trent Rix, Director of Student Services at RDC. “Through the App, students can now easily access their grades and their College email.”
iPhone and Android users will enjoy a colourful, easy to navigate interface that remains user-friendly. Key features from the previous version of the App remain, including access and updates to class schedules, campus maps and links to social media streams on campus. Students can also easily access the academic schedule, their personal calendar, emergency information and procedures, and give feedback or leave comments about the App.
“We want to be continually responsive to students, ensuring the technology and software we offer reflects their needs,” says Rix. “This is version 1.1 of the App. In upcoming months we’ll roll out version 1.2 which will be even more streamlined.”
Students’ Association President Derrick Callan notes that the College is doing well to keep up with rapidly changing technology. “It’s great to see how RDC has listened to student feedback and adapted to make life easier for RDC students. It’s an important service the College is offering.”
The App also features events and news on campus to keep students and the general public up to date with schedules from the Library, Athletics, Performing Arts and Campus Rec.
The App is a pilot project with SunGard Higher Education and has been developed in collaboration with RDC’s Information Technology and Marketing & Communications department. The free App can be downloaded through the iTunes store and the Android Market by searching for “iRDC”.
