Trans Canada Culinary Expedition at RDC
Red Deer, January 26, 2011 – RDC’s Hospitality and Tourism Management Program is proud to present the Trans Canada Culinary Expedition on Friday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m. Students will serve food and beverages from regions throughout Canada at the Cornerstone Dining Room at RDC.
Highlights from the menu include elk medallions on bannock with Saskatoon and rhubarb chutney, lobster pot pie, bison bacon bites, mini tourtiere, beaver tails served with a variety of sauces, and Canadian cheese.
The food will be served in a reception style and patrons of the event can sample all the food from station to station, embarking on a cross-Canada exhibition of tastes. A unique range of wine, beers and spirits will accompany the culinary delights.
Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance learning opportunities for students in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program and will also support the Trans Canada Trail.
“This is the first of what we hope will be an annual event,” says Bob Van Someren, chairperson of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program. The Trans Canada Trail is the world’s longest trail: 16,500 kilometres of connected trail spanning the entire country. “We thought it would be a great way to draw attention to the trail and our program, so we’re serving food from coast to coast to coast that will tantalize the taste buds.”
Tickets to the event are $65 and are limited, with a maximum of 100 tickets to be sold. Tickets grant all inclusive access to the event. To purchase tickets contact Jacqueline Fisher at 403.357.3665 or email jacqueline.fisher@rdc.ab.ca
