Brad McDiarmid, MSc

Brad McDiarmid has been an educator since 1989. He has 13 years of teaching experience in the K-12 school system and has been at RDC since 2003. He possesses a Bachelor of Education degree in Secondary Education from the University of Alberta and Master of Science degree in Educational Technology from Walden University. He is currently working at completing his PhD with the Department of Secondary Education at the University of Alberta. The focus of his thesis will be a phenomenological approach to video gaming in education. Brad is currently the Chairperson for the BEd Department and also teaches EDIT 302.
Brad's favorite education quote is from the former NBA basketball star Magic Johnson,

Brent Galloway, MEd

Brent Galloway has been involved in education in Central Alberta since his early schooling days in Bentley. From here he went to Red Deer Colllege where he took his first two years of education before finishing his degree at the University of Calgary. Brent also has a Master's Degree from the University of Lethbridge in Educational Leadership. Brent has been a teacher and administrator in Central Alberta for over 20 years and has primarily taught in the Humanities area at junior and senior high school. He is passionate about teaching and learning and has had the opportunity to teach and learn in countries such as Australia and Kenya. Brent is currently in his 10th year as Coordinator of the University of Alberta/RDC Collaborative (Middle Years Education) program. He loves teaching pre-service teachers in courses such as Integrated Curriculum, Managing the Learning Environment, and Active and Interactive Curriculum.

Julia Rheaume, MEd

A true Central Albertan, Julia has spent most of her life in the Red Deer area. She grew up in Clive but a three month stint in Quebec during high school led to a passion for language learning. Julia lived in France for a year prior to attending the University of Alberta where she met her husband Martin, also a French Immersion teacher. Their daughter Emilie is her inspiration to educate for a better tomorrow. Over the past 15 years, Julia has taught at Lacombe Junior High, Central Middle School and Lindsay Thurber High School, where she was also a vice-principal for three years. Her interest in professional development has led to many opportunities, including her current teaching position here at RDC. When she doesn't have her nose in a book, Julia enjoys going for walks, playing slowpitch, skiing, travelling, movies and geo-caching.
Dr. Robert Nellis, PhD

Robert Christopher Nellis has been a teacher since 1998. His 2007 PhD thesis received the Canadian Association for Curriculum Studies Dissertation Award, and he has presented his research at numerous major national and international conferences. He is the author of Haunting Inquiry: Classic NFB Documentary, Jacques Derrida, and the Curricular Otherwise (2009; Sense Publishers, Rotterdam/Boston/Taipei). Robert has taught courses in inclusive education; media education (an originally conceived, proposed, and developed University of Alberta course); English; differentiating instruction; assessment; consultation, collaboration, and teamwork; educational psychology; human sexuality; and relationship development. Robert currently teaches educational psychology and family studies for the BEd program and inclusive education for the University of Alberta/RDC Collaborative (Middle Years) BEd program.
