Life at RDC

French and Spanish

The study of a second language will broaden your intercultural understanding, improve communication skills, facilitate international business and expand international work opportunities. Learning a second language helps you better understand your native language, and helps to develop your analytical and critical reading skills.

Fluency in French and/or Spanish can give an applicant for any position a clear advantage. In Canada, proficiency in French is highly recommended for civil service positions, and the study of French and/or Spanish can also lead to a career in teaching or translation/interpretation, as well as open doors to graduate study, international business, international law and many other fields. In the global economy where free trade within the Americas, Europe and Asia is constantly expanding, a foreign language is increasingly becoming an essential tool. Students majoring in French or Spanish will transfer to a university after two years at RDC. Work with an advisor to make sure you know the program and admission requirements of that university.
