Update on June 18

Well…our trip took an unexpected turn on our way home.  There was a large thunderstorm in Beijing, and as we were trying to leave Xi’an we ended up spending almost 11 hours in the airport before we finally got on our flight out of the city.  When we arrived in the city, we had missed our flight to Vancouver and discovered that the once daily flight for the next day was booked as well.

Luckily, we have great insurance which is covering our hotel and food expenses while we await in Beijing to find out when we will get to come home to Canada.  In the mean time, today we got to see the Forbidden Kingdom and Tiananmen Square, and tomorrow morning we will get to see the Great Wall.  While we were all quite disappointed in not getting home when we had originally planned, there have been some advantages to it, as we were all wishing we had a chance to see Beijing and the Great Wall while we were in China.  Hopefully we will get home soon, but until then, here is a picture of me by Tiananmen Square and in the Forbidden Palace!
