Coach Bio - Brian Stackhouse:
Brian has been coaching the RDC Cross Country Running team for 36 years and he continues to be energetic and enthusiastic (although he doesn’t run very fast himself anymore). The RDC Women’s XC team has been ACAC Champion for three of the past four years (silver in 2009) as well as CCAA Champions in 2007 and CCAA bronze medalists in 2010. The men haven’t been as strong although they were ACAC bronze medalists in 2009. Brian has been voted ACAC coach of the year twice in the past five years including 2009-2010. Brian continues to participate in coaching workshops, including all of the NCCP courses up to and including Level 3. He is also the CCAA XC Running Convenor and as such, has been trying to improve his French. In his younger days as a competitive runner, Brian competed for five years on the University of Alberta Cross Country Running and Track teams. His best performances were at longer distances including sixth place in 1970 Canadian XC Championships and a 2:25 marathon in 1973.
Assistant Coach Bio - Nathan Doerksen:
Nathan is excited to be assistant coaching for his first year with the RDC Cross Country team. He has run regularly for the past 18 years, including two seasons with the University of Alberta Cross Country Running team. He continues to compete semi-regularly, typically at events between 4 and 10 km in length, and has also participated in at least four Kananaskis Relays. Nathan does own a functioning car, but he tries to use it as little as possible. He therefore feels running is not only good for fitness and fun, but is also an excellent form of transportation. Nathan works as a physiotherapist at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, which he quite enjoys.
Assistant Coach Bio - Lori Leduc:
Lori (Harrison) Leduc is the fresh new face to join the RDC Cross Country Team. She brings a highly motivated, highly energized, and well balanced approach to running.
Lori recently moved from Grande Prairie where she was assistant coach for the past 2 years. Her coaching experience extends to being involved with the coaching of groups or individuals covering all distances - from the beginning runner to the seasoned marathoner. The ability to reach out to all she works with has been key to their success as well as hers. Lori ran for GPRC in 2008, making the ACAC Team and finishing 11th at nationals. She has been highly competitive at all running distances and has performed at high levels in the triathlon world, reaching the World Championships in 2009 for Team Canada. Everything she does is done with a smile on her face!
Lori enjoys living in Red Deer with her two teenage girls.
