From a statistical standpoint the 2009-2010 Queens enjoyed another successful season by placing 2nd in the South Division behind Mount Royal University once again qualifying for the playoffs. The team was comprised of 11 veterans and 8 rookies, and three of them, Samantha Vockeroth, Samantha Martin and Brittany Baker were named to the South Division All-Star Team. 5th year player Sam Vockeroth received the additional honor of being named a CCAA All-Star. As a result of 3 key injuries we did not fare well in the playoffs and were eliminated in the 1st round by Grant MacEwan University. A majority of the players will be returning next year and we are looking forward to continued success next season.
Coach Bio - Dave Colley
It was after playing at college that David's interests in the wider aspects of the game came to the fore. David became a referee and entered on the coaching ladder by attending the Scottish Football Association's c-certificate course. In 1999 David was awarded the Scottish Football Association's National Licence/Diploma course that specialized in working with children and then joined his local Education department working for their Football Development section. David coached a local amateur team as he continued his coaching education.
In 2000 David arrived in Canada and was taken on board the RDC Queens organization as an assistant coach, a role that he has fulfilled up until this date and his appointment as head coach. During that time David has instructed the Kinesiology Activity class in Soccer for six years and the KNSS course in Biomechanics this last winter at Red Deer College. David is also a CSA district referees instructor and supports many initiatives involving soccer in the Central Alberta area.
David looks forward to the many challenges that come with filling this p
osition to which he is honoured to have been appointed.
