The 2009 season was a big improvement for the RDC Kings Soccer team from the previous three years. We had an extremely productive pre–season playing against very good opposition in the shape of Grant MacEwan, the Alberta select team and the University of Saskatchewan. Playing teams of this calibre enabled our new players an opportunity to gain an understanding of what was required to play for the RDC Kings and also allowed for a smooth transition to participate at the ACAC level. A record of 4-5-1 and a place at the conference play-offs was a reflection of the effort and dedication put in by the players before and during the season. Although the team was on the end of a 2-0 defeat to Concordia at the Conference play-offs, the team competed well and gave a very good account of themselves. We hope to build on what was achieved this season and continue to improve the RDC Kings Soccer program.
