Head Coach -Steve Fullarton

Steve took over the Head Coaches position in the fall of 2008 after 3 years as an assistant under former coach Doug Holloway.

Steve has an extensive playing background, having played all of his soccer in his native Scotland with various youth, amateur and junior teams. After trials at Sunderland F.C of the English Premiership and Dundee Utd F.C of the Scottish Premier League, Steve signed professional forms for his hometown team St. Johnstone F.C, turning out many times for the youth and reserve teams. A short spell at Brechin City F.C followed before seeing out his playing career in the Scottish junior game.
Steve has worked for various soccer organizations in Alberta including Red Deer Soccer as Technical Director and the Alberta Soccer Association.

A recipient of the ACAC South Coach of the Year Award in 2009/10, Steve believes hard work and discipline are the key factors to a successful team and traits that will help the student athletes become productive members of society following College/University life.

Assistant Coach – Tanner Newfield

Tanner is stepping into an assistant coaching position alongside Steve Fullarton after spending the last three seasons on the Kings roster. He feels that this is a great opportunity to work and learn from one of the best coaches in Alberta.

Tanner was born and raised in Red Deer and grew up playing for the local club teams before joining RDC.  From his time playing for RDC Tanner has gained experience and knows firsthand the effort and discipline that it takes to be a successful student athlete. Tanner feels that he can draw from this experience to help the players’ achieve their potential.  Tanner has high expectations for this team with the skills, maturity and leadership displayed by all the players.

Assistant Coach – Louis Porterfield

Louis graduated from RDC in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  He played for RDC Soccer Kings the last two seasons. Louis is excited to be part of a disciplined and committed program. He looks forward to working alongside the other coaches and achieving a high level of success. Playing for the RDC Kings has been an exceptional experience and Louis says he embraces the opportunity to give back.
