Wing in her new office

Creating Win-Win-Win for RDC, Students and Donors!

Welcome Janice Wing, our new Director of Development

RDC has recruited one of its biggest supporters to join the team. This September, Janice Wing signed on as RDC’s Director of Development. It’s a great fit for RDC and for Wing. It’s also a natural progression considering she’s been a College supporter and stakeholder for many years.

Wing is fully aware of RDC’s significance in the region – and beyond. “I’m excited to play a role in RDC’s growth and thrilled to be part of a team so committed to the standards of excellence that exist throughout the institution.”

Not only does Wing come loaded with passion, she arrives with a deep background in community philanthropy. She spent the previous decade as CEO of the Red Deer & District Community Foundation.

“Fund development, community development and community connecting have been an integral part of my work, which all transfers directly to my new work at RDC,” she notes. Plenty of that expertise is linked to RDC. In 2003 she became a member of the RDC Board of Governors and most recently, the Chair. “I’m familiar with the regulatory environment that the College lives within and the opportunities that exist in that environment for our future,” she adds.

“Our work as central Alberta’s ‘community learning centre’ finds us providing learner-focused educational and training opportunities for students of all ages, and from all walks of life,” she says.

New role, new goals. As Director of Development, Wing’s goals are to:

  • lead the fund development and fundraising activities
  • continue to grow the strong and professional Development Team that already works diligently to achieve the goals of the department and College
  • provide people and business with opportunities to invest in RDC, everything from capital investments to scholarships and awards to special programs

“Janice brings energy to the team, dedication to donors and a strong commitment to RDC, and she will play an important role in enabling Community Relations to support the growth strategies of the College,” says Michael Donlevy, VP Community Relations, RDC. “She is well known and highly respected in the central Alberta community. She is also a recognized leader in fund development, donor stewardship and capacity building, not only at the provincial level, but nationally and even internationally – it’s very exciting!”

Family and community roots. Wing’s husband and two daughters are RDC alumni. As a resident of a central Alberta community and past CEO of a local charitable organization, she hopes to meld her experiences and first-hand knowledge – all to assist her team and colleagues in meeting the philanthropic needs of donors throughout the region.

Creating “win-win-win” situations for RDC, its learners, and its donors will have a positive impact on the future growth and direction set for RDC.

Increasing the opportunities available at RDC creates countless benefits, from economic growth to increased community capacity throughout central Alberta. Here’s another advantage – these opportunities provide educational and training options that are close to home for learners.
