Murray Gibson

Murray Gibson first studied tapestry weaving at the Alberta College of Art and Design and later completed his MA Textiles at Goldsmith’s College, UK. He currently teaches at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Murray’s weaving career has presented varied opportunities, including an artist’s residency in New York City, and a year teaching in Pangnirtung, Nunavut. His tapestries hang in numerous international private, public and corporate collections.
Murray is very interested in art practice as a means of building community. He has recently worked with the Antigonish L’Arche Community and his students to create community artworks.
