Jamie Gray
Jamie McDonald Gray, graduate of the BFA (Glass) program at the Alberta College of Art + Design, is an interdisciplinary Calgary artist who has been working in glass and multimedia for nearly 20 years. She enjoys exploring the ideas of cosmopolitanism and community and firmly believes that art should be experienced on a multitude of levels, the best of which include food and conversation. To that end, recent projects have include a 63-piece installation of fused-glass cake plates, each of which was used at community cake parties, a three-month church potluck which included fused-glass platterware, and a gallery-based disco dance party which featured blown-glass tumblers given to participants. Much as Jamie loves glass and prefers to use it because of its functionality and beauty, she will nevertheless use whatever media is needed to support relationship-based concepts. Glass is the vehicle.
