How will I receive my Alexander Rutherford Scholarship?

You will receive your Alexander Rutherford Scholarship in the form of a cheque, sent directly from Alberta Scholarship Programs. The cheque will be sent in late November or early December for students who applied by May 1st, 2011, and in early April for students who applied by December 1st, 2011.

How will I receive my Jason Lang and Louise McKinney Scholarship?

How do I send components of the application (ie. Reference letter, Transcripts), once I have completed the online awards application?

Entrance Students -Reference letters are only required from entrance students who are entering the Hospitality and Tourism Program, or who have graduated from H.J. Cody within the last 2 years. The reference letters must be submitted to the Student Funding & Awards office by March 31, 2012. Transcripts are required from entrance students who completed their high school education outside of Alberta, or who have upgraded at a post secondary institution other than RDC. Transcripts must also be submitted by March 31, 2012.
Continuing Students - There are many scholarships that require an essay or reference letter. These scholarships are listed on the Awards with Specific Criteria section of the Awards Application. These documents must be submitted to the Student Funding & Awards office by March 1, 2012. Transcripts are only required by students who are in the collaborative program in the 2011/2012 academic year (3rd or 4th year B. of Arts and B. of Education, or 4th year B. Science in Nursing). Transcripts must be submitted by April 30, 2012.
Apprentice Students - There are scholarships that require reference letters and safety tickets. These scholarships are listed on the Awards with Specific Criteria section of the Awards Application. These documents must be submitted to the Student Funding & Awards office by May 31, 2012. Transcripts are not required.
The reference letter is available on the following webpage. The directions for submitting these letters are included on the Reference Form. They can be submitted by email, mail, fax, or in person to the Student Funding & Awards office.

What grades are used to determine my academic status as an Entrance student for awards?
|
| Your award average is calculated using five subjects: English and your four highest academic subjects. Only final scores will be used. If you have not yet completed the Grade 12-level, we will then consider your Grade 11-level subjects. We will use only those subjects appearing on the transcript received by the March 31st deadline, and will not recalculate your award average after that date. |

How and when will I be notified about my award status?
|
|
Students will be notified that they will receive a scholarship between June 2012 and September 2012. Entrance students will be notified by mail; continuing and apprentice students will be notified through their Loop account.

How do I get my money?
|
|
Your congratulatory letter will explain how and when your scholarship will be disbursed.
|
What if I withdraw from my courses? What happens to my scholarship(s)?
|
|
It will depend on the eligibility requirements for the scholarship whether you will be required to pay back some, or all of the scholarship funds.
|
|
Can I defer my scholarship to a future year?
|
|
Scholarships are based on attending RDC in the Fall of 2012 (or between September 2012 and June 2013 for apprentice students). If you take a year off before attending RDC, your scholarships cannot be deferred. However, you may reapply for scholarships for the following year.
