Student Loans & Grants
Full-time status is normally defined as a student who takes a minimum of:
- Three courses and nine credits for each fall and winter term
- Two courses and six credits for spring term
Withdrawing from a course may change your status to part-time and affect your student funding.
You can tell how many academic credits your course is worth by looking at the course description. The number indicated after the dash is the number of academic credits the course is worth. For example,
BUS 303-3 is worth 3 academic credits
ENGL 210-6 is worth 6 academic credits (full year course) but only 3 academic credits per term
Note: RDC credits and transferable credits may not be the same. If you are transferring to a university, always check the Alberta Transfer Guide to see how many transfer credits you will receive from that institution.
Note: For students in the Career and Academic Preparation program (CAP): If you are receiving a monthly grant cheque, it will not be available to you if you are receiving less than 20 hours of course instruction per week.
