Recognition of Prior Learning

RDC recognizes prior learning of skills, knowledge or competencies that have been acquired through work, formal and informal education or training, self study or volunteer activity in the form of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

RPL can take various forms, and the associated outcomes can be used for a variety of purposes relevant to the individual's educational program at RDC.

The following are the Prior Learning Requirements for the various courses taught by Computer Learning @ the Library:

CMPT085 Keyboarding exam – minimum of 20 nwam on three 3-minute timings (three different pieces of text) with a maximum of 5 errors PLUS completion of Skills Appraisal
CMPT090 Completion of Skills Appraisal
CMPT170 Successful completion of recent (within past two years) Educational Technology course OR completion of Skills Appraisal
CMPT261 Completion of Skills Appraisal
HOSP213 Completion of Skills Appraisal
LAW102 Keyboarding exam – minimum of 40 nwam on three 3-minute timings (three different pieces of text) with a maximum of 3 errors
LAW125 No prior learning available
LAW126 No prior learning available
UNIT100 Completion of Skills Appraisal
UNIT101 Keyboarding exam – minimum of 35 nwam on three 3-minute timings (three different pieces of text) with a maximum of 3 errors
*nwam = net words a minute
