ALBERTA WORKS FUNDING TIMELINES
To apply for full-time funding for SPRING:
Contact the Student Funding & Awards Office and complete the Pre-Screening in order to receive an application. Once your application is complete, we are accepting calls as of February 1st to make an appointment.
Appointment dates are: February 13, 2012 – March 23, 2012.
To apply for full-time funding for FALL:
Contact the Student Funding & Awards Office on or after May 1st to complete the Pre-Screening in order to receive an application. Once your application is complete, we are accepting calls as of May 1st to make an appointment.
Appointment dates are: May 22, 2012 – July 20, 2012.
Applications for spring term part-time funding are now available in the Student Funding & Awards office. Students must be registered in one class for the May-June 2012 term.
Deadline to apply is Friday, March 2.
After this date, students will be responsible for tuition payment if funding is not approved by May 1. Those applicants who apply by the deadline will have tuition deferred.
PLEASE NOTE: Winter term part-time funding (one or two classes in the Jan-Apr 2012 term) is still available. Last date to submit an application is Friday, March 16, 2012.
Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship
If you are a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, especially in the area of disability, and/or an initiative to improve the condition and lives of others, then apply for the Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship!
Application forms are available at the RDC Student Funding & Awards Office (Room 1101).
The deadline to submit applications is February 15, 2012.

STUDENT AWARDS WITH LEADERSHIP CRITERIA
Take a few minutes and nominate a post-secondary student who demonstrates outstanding dedication and leadership to fellow students and to their community for a scholarship!
Application forms for the following awards are available at the RDC Student Funding & Awards Office (Room 1101) or at the Students’ Association Office (Room 2010):
• Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership
• Students’ Association of Red Deer College Outstanding Dedication Award
• Students’ Association of Red Deer College Student of the Year Award

Scholarship cheques for the Alexander Rutherford, Jason Lang, and Louise McKinney Scholarships will be sent to recipients in late November/early December. The cheques will be sent directly from Alberta Scholarships to the address provided on the application form. Recipients who have not received their cheque by the end of December can contact Alberta Scholarships directly at (780) 427-8640.
Apprenticeship Funding

Income Tax Information for Post-Secondary Government Student Loans
General Information
• Student Loan Funding is not taxable income. A tax form will not be created for loan funding received by a student.
• Post-Secondary grant and scholarship funding (ie. Federal Low Income Grant) is considered taxable income. A T4A will be generated by Alberta Advanced Education and Technology and mailed directly to students beginning mid-February.
• To update your address with Alberta Advanced Education visit www.alis.gov.ab.ca/studentsfinance and click on Change of Address.

Income Tax Information for students funded through the Alberta Works Income Support Grant Investment Program (including Part-time students and Apprentices)
• Beginning mid-February Alberta Human Services (previously known as Alberta Employment and Immigration) will mail tax forms to students who have received Government Grant Funding through the Alberta Works Program.
