Welcome to RDC! Academic Advisors understand that figuring out your program requirements and registering for courses can be confusing and we are here to help you.

Our objective is to assist you in:

  • making informed decisions about your educational goals;
  • planning how to set achievable academic and career goals;
  • developing strategies to achieve your goals;
  • helping you with choices you will be making along the way.

Our Academic Planning Guides are also available for you. Planning Guides provide detailed information about your program and are your primary source of information to use in choosing your courses and planning your program.

There are also great additional resources that will aid you in your academic planning.

Students play an active role in their education by:

  • Participating fully in planning and decision making regarding your program and course choices.
  • Attending academic advising appointments as scheduled and as needed throughout the term.
  • Asking questions.
  • Being prepared -- maintain a record of relevant decision-making material.
  • Telling an advisor if you change your educational plan, or if any unforeseen circumstances arise.
  • Accepting final responsibility for all decisions.
  • Understanding degree and program requirements as outlined in the RDC Academic Calendar and the calendar for your intended university.
  • Making decisions using the most up to date information available.
  • Building your timetable and registering in courses.

Advisors assist students by:

  • Preparing and publishing Academic Planning Guides that contain program information for specific diploma and university transfer programs.
  • Interpreting and explaining information in Academic Planning Guides, the RDC Calendar, and University Calendars.
  • Demonstrating how to use advising tools like the RDC Website and the Alberta Transfer Guide.
  • Providing resources and referrals for personal or academic support and career information.
  • Listening actively and responding respectfully to your concerns.
  • Helping you make informed decisions about your education!

How to access Academic Advising services:

The Academic Advising Office is located in Room 1102. We are available year-round on a walk-in basis.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

During peak times, walk-in hours may vary. Please contact us to confirm walk-in hours for the day you intend to see us.
