Memberships

Red Deer College Library offers a variety of memberships.

 RDC Students  TAL Cardholders
 RDC Faculty and Staff   Community Members
 RDC Alumni  Short-Term Computer Accounts
 NEOS Cardholders  Long-Term Computer Accounts
 RDPL Cardholders  

Current membership is required to exercise borrowing privileges.

RDC Students

  • Your iCard is your library card
  • All students automatically receive a Library membership
  • Two week loan period with a maximum 2 renewals
    (if no other requests) - (.50/day/item fines)
  • Videos/DVDs may be borrowed - 3 day loan with maximum of 1 renewal (.50/day/item fines)
  • 2 hour loan for reserve items, no renewal
    ($1.00/hour/item fines)
  • No loans for periodicals, reference books
  • Free NEOS requests with maximum 2 renewals
    ($1.00/day/item fines for NEOS materials)
  • Free Interlibrary Loans
  • Remote access to online article databases 
  • Need TAL card issued at RDC to borrow from outside NEOS/RDPL (does not mean automatic privilege to other library's computers and databases)

RDC Faculty & Staff

  • Your iCard is your library card
  • All faculty and staff automatically receive a Library membership
  • 4-month loan period on RDC material with up to 2 renewals (restrictions apply)
  • No fines on RDC materials
  • Videos/DVDs may be borrowed
  • Free NEOS requests with maximum 2 renewals
    ($1.00/day/item fines for NEOS materials)
  • Free Interlibrary Loans
  • Remote access to online article databases
  • Need TAL card issued at RDC to borrow from outside NEOS/RDPL (does not mean automatic privilege to other library's computers and databases)

  • Membership is $10/year
  • Borrow up to 10 books/audio/toys (RDC collection only) - (.50/day/items fines, 2 week loans with maximum 1 renewal)
  • No loans for periodicals, reference books 
  • Full computer and Internet access in the Library
  • No remote access to licensed electronic resources
  • No video/DVDs borrowing
  • No Interlibrary Loan privileges

NEOS Cardholders

  • Patrons who are primary borrowers at other NEOS Libraries (students, staff) 
  • A valid card from NEOS home library
  • Two week loans with one renewal (restrictions may apply) ($1.00/day/item fines)
  • No loans for periodicals, reference books
  • No computer or database access
  • No video/DVDs borrowing
  • Can borrow books/audio/toys

RDPL Cardholders

  • Patrons who have a Red Deer Public Library card
  • Borrow up to 10 books/audio/toys - (.50/day/item fines)
  • 2 week loan with maximum 1 renewal 
  • No loans for periodicals, reference books
  • Full computer and Internet access in the Library
  • No remote access to licensed electronic resources
  • No video/DVDs borrowing

TAL Cardholders (other than RDPL)

  • Patrons who have a TAL (The Alberta Library) Card issued by their home library
  • Borrow up to 10 books 
  • 2 week loans with maximum 1 renewal
    (some restrictions apply) - (.50/day/item fines)
  • No computer or database access
  • No loans for periodicals, reference books
  • No video/DVDs borrowing

Community Members

  • Membership is $40/year
  • Free memberships for members of the following groups:
    • RDC Extension Services Students
    • RDC Series Program Students
    • RDC Contract Staff
    • RDC Board of Governors
    • Central Alberta area High School students
    • Visiting Faculty
    • Central Alberta area School Teachers (All Grades)
    • Bethany Collegside residents
  • Borrow up to 10 items 
  • 2 week loan with maximum 1 renewal - (.50/day/item fines)
  • Full computer and Internet access in the Library
  • No remote access to licensed electronic resources
  • No videos/DVDs borrowing (exception: Teachers may borrow videos/DVDs which are part of the CTS Curriculum)

Long-Term Computer Accounts

  • Membership is $20/year
  • Full computer and Internet access in the Library
  • No remote access to licensed electronic resources
  • No borrowing privileges

Short-Term Computer Accounts

  • If you require computer access for a short period (i.e. 24 hours), please ask at the Circulation Desk. 
  • If you are a Series student, please ask at the Circulation Desk about getting a guest account for the duration of your course.
