Quiet Study Space

The Library recognizes that some students prefer a quiet environment in which to study. We are pleased to offer alternatives for students seeking a quiet study space.

The upper east side of the Library has been designated a Quiet Study Zone. Carrels and tables in this area are for individual, quiet study only – no groups.

In addition, the Johnson Controls LP Quiet Study Room (2006J) is a large room equipped with individual study carrels. The room has been soundproofed to prevent exterior noise from carrying into the space. As well, a white noise machine has been installed to further muffle exterior noise. The carrels in this room are for individual, quiet study only – no groups.

For individual, in-Library use of media items, there are 3 carrels located near the Red Deer Advocate Media & Toy Collection. 2 carrels are equipped for viewing of DVDs and VCR cassette tapes, and the third carrel is equipped for audio cassettes and CDs. Headphones are not supplied; you will need to bring your own, or purchase a set from the Circulation Desk.
