Assistive Technologies
The following assistive technologies are available in the Library:
- Merlin LCD
Desktop Video Magnifier
- Kurzweil
Makes printed or electronic text readily available to people who are blind or visually impaired. It combines accessibility, communication and productivity tools to ease and enhance their reading, writing and learning experience.
- ZoomText is an adaptive software that is used for screen magnification and screen reading.
Podcasting
It is easy to create a podcast in the Library. Our Media Room (1006S) is equipped with an omni-directional microphone, a graphics tablet, Audacity, and Camtasia software. Book this room at the Library Information Desk.
Video Editing
The Library's Video Editing workstations are equipped with the following video editing software:
- Adobe Premiere Elements/Photoshop Elements7.0
- Windows Movie Maker
- Roxio CD & DVD Creator

Web Design
The Library's multimedia workstations are equipped with illustration, graphic design tools, and web design tools to create web sites.
Photo Editing
The Library's Multimedia workstations are equipped with scanners and photo imaging software. Book multimedia workstations at the Library Information Desk.
Technology-to-Go
Laptops are available at both the Circulation and Information Desks.
FlipUltra camcorders, USB microphones, calculators, remote controls for the video editing stations, and multicard readers are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk.
There are several types of assistive technologies, including digital voice recorders and specialized computer equipment, available for borrowing from the Circulation Desk. All RDC students are able to borrow these technologies.
Echo Pens (also known as LiveScribe pens) are available for borrowing by Accommodated Students only, from the Circulation Desk.
