Ceramic sculpture
Location: Library Information Common, main floor, in the reading nook just inside the front door
This sculpture was created by Maria Isabel Landry while she was a fourth year Bachelor of Fine Art student in 2003.
From the artist: "Originally from Nicaragua, Maria came to Canada in 1989. Since arriving in Canada, things have not always been easy. In order for her to continue her education, she had to learn a new language and fulfill many requirements before she was able to enrol in the program of studies she desired. Through her quiet determination and steady pace, she was able to achieve a high level of success. She attributes her success to the help of many of the staff at the College who have helped her along the way. She has thoroughly enjoyed her experiences at Red Deer College and wanted to leave something behind that shows her appreciation to all the staff (from the President to the janitors) that made her time here very pleasant. She would also like to pass along a special thanks to all the instructors who gave her very good advice, and to the ones who went beyond the call of duty to help her. Thanks a million!"
