Overview of Access Copyright License
Under our current Access Copyright license, you (student, faculty, staff) are authorized to photocopy published works within certain limits:
No copying can exceed 10% of a published work, or the following, whichever is greater:
- an entire newspaper article or page
- an entire short story, play, poem, essay or article from a book or a periodical (journal, magaizine)
- an entire single item of print music from a book or periodical issue containing other kids of work
- an entire entry from an encycopledia, dictionary, annotated bibilography or similar reference work
- an enture reporduction of an articitc work (drawing, painting, sculpture, prints or other works of artistic craftmanship)
- one chapter, provided it is no more than 20% of a book
Number of copies:
- the license authorizes making one copy for each student in a class and two for the professor

This license does not cover the copying of materials into digital format; this is still prohibited under the existing Copyright law (having to do with changing the format of a work) unless you get permission from the publisher.
