Strategic Success for Businesses during COVID-19

Opportunity for businesses to invest in health and safety during pandemic

In conjunction with NOVA Chemicals, Red Deer County, and the City of Red Deer, Red Deer College is launching Strategic Success for Businesses during COVID-19 through its School of Continuing Education.

This online micro-credentialed course is interactive and available to subscribing provincial companies and their employees in a concerted effort to help them adapt and safely operate throughout the ongoing pandemic. It will also help industry to prepare for the unpredictability of future waves of COVID-19 by receiving up-to-date information and education. It is tailored to meet the recommended Alberta Health Services (AHS) protocols and all stakeholders can be confident in the safe operations of companies that use this training.

“The City of Red Deer is pleased to support this project alongside Red Deer College, as together we work to foster a friendly and diverse business community in our city,” says Allan Seabrooke, City Manager. “Red Deer College is not only a key economic driver for the central Alberta region, but through their programs and service delivery, they train the business leaders of tomorrow. As a sponsor, we are proud to offer course subsidization to our local businesses through our Business License Program.”

Upon successful completion of the self-directed course, enrolled businesses and staff members can proudly display their micro-credentials in the form of digital badges or certificates, which signal to consumers and employees their readiness to operate in a healthy manner during the pandemic.

“Safety has long been a fundamental core value for NOVA Chemicals,” says Mark Hodson, NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site Leader. “Supporting the central Alberta recovery efforts is a priority and we are pleased to support the development of the Red Deer College COVID-19 training, both financially and through subject matter expertise on protocols to support safe operations.”

Each participating business will receive relevant knowledge and skills to successfully navigate through a variety of circumstances, including the current COVID-19 measures established by the Government of Alberta.

“The health and safety of our community and employees is Red Deer County’s highest priority. We want to ensure that businesses have access to the needed services during these difficult times,” says Curtis Herzberg, Red Deer County Manager. “Red Deer County understands that the central Alberta region prospers when we work together, and we appreciate the work that Red Deer College has done to provide support for our businesses so that they, in turn, can continue to provide service to our community.”

The standard version of the course, “CORE Training,” encompasses best practices across all industries and will be updated as required by AHS. A customizable training module, “CORE+ Training,” is also available for an additional fee, providing training according to specific business needs.

This training and certification helps create a more efficient monitoring process for management and ownership, freeing up more resources to concentrate on business operations.

“I am very pleased that RDC was able to collaborate with three of our respected partners and sponsors to help bring this valuable training virtually to Alberta businesses,” says Dr. Peter Nunoda, RDC President.  “COVID-19 has created challenges for all of us across the province and globe, but the circumstances have also fostered a stronger sense of community, bringing many industries and people together. As we work with our industry and government partners to safely ignite the economy in our province, we are confident in the value that Strategic Success for Businesses during COVID-19 offers Alberta and central Alberta businesses and their employees.”
