Convocation 2021 Virtual Celebration

Congratulations to all of our students who will be graduating this spring! RDC looks forward to celebrating your accomplishments through a virtual Convocation Ceremony on Friday, June 4, 2021. You will be able to watch this ceremony on June 4 or view a recording after, as it works best for your schedule.

After careful consideration, we have determined that a virtual ceremony is the safest way for RDC to celebrate our students while complying with Alberta Health guidelines with respect to public gatherings.

For students who are eligible to graduate:

  • Be sure to check your RDC email regularly for more updates.
  • Look for a special Convocation package from RDC: additional details will be coming soon!
    • Address confirmation: Confirm Red Deer College has your correct permanent address on file. Your Convocation package and parchment will be sent to this address. You can confirm your address by logging in to TheLoop and clicking on Personal Information. Students who need to change their permanent addresses should email the Office of the Registrar at admissions [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca or call 403.342.3400 to update their information. Please update your address by May 17 to ensure we have the correct location to send your Convocation package.
  • Visit this page on June 4, because you will find the link to the virtual Convocation video here.
  • Stay connected to RDC’s social media channels (InstagramFacebookTwitter) as we celebrate your graduation.
  • Let us know if you have any questions! You can email us at convocation [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca

Virtual Ceremony for Convocation 2020 Graduates

For all of our graduates from 2020, congratulations on your success and the completion of your program! As with this year’s Convocation, we are also looking forward to celebrating your achievements through a virtual Convocation Ceremony on Thursday, June 3, 2021. You will be able to watch the ceremony on June 3 or view it at a later time.

While we were hopeful to celebrate with you in person this year, the ongoing health and safety of our College community and our compliance with Alberta Health guidelines means that a virtual ceremony is the most appropriate option to celebrate your success.

For RDC graduates from 2020:

  • Be sure to check your email for more information.
    • Please visit if you need to update your personal information with us.
  • Visit this page on June 3, because you will find the link your virtual Convocation video here.

Congratulations to RDC’s Class of 2020

In June of 2020, 1,654 students graduated from Red Deer College. Our College’s 56th ConvoConvocation 2020cation is memorable for many reasons, but nothing can take away from the importance of Convocation or the milestone achievement that it signifies for each of you, our graduating class of 2020.

Check out the Convocation 2020 program to find your name and see your place in RDC’s history.

We are very pleased to announce three award recipients as part of Convocation 2020. Two outstanding students were recognized for their exceptional contributions to academics and to the community. Megan Nikula received the Governor General’s Academic Medal (Collegiate Bronze Level) for her academic excellence. Megan graduated with a Kinesiology and Sport Studies Diploma, and she earned a GPA of 4.0 and five grades of A+ in the final year of her program.

Brittany Lausen received the Red Deer College Foundation Outstanding Student Award for her leadership and commitment to RDC. Brittany has demonstrated extensive contributions as a student leader, serving as the President of the Students’ Association and being an integral part of a wide variety of initiatives for students across the College.

RDC continued another important tradition in 2020, with the granting of an Honorary Degree to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of social, cultural or economic development in a way that has had significant impact on RDC, central Alberta and beyond. Dorothy Dickson is the sixth recipient of the Honorary Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Degree in recognition of her unparalleled passion for environmental initiatives, education and community building.

Congratulations to all of our graduates from the class of 2020!
